ForgeRival FAQ: robowar entry, teams, prize and rules

Answers to the questions teams ask most about ForgeRival, India’s team robowar and engineering competition: what it is, how scoring works, the 9 kg robots, entry fees, the ₹50,000 prize and when registration opens.

About ForgeRival

What is ForgeRival?

ForgeRival is an India-based team robowar (robot-combat) and engineering competition. Teams of 2–5 design and build their own combat robot for a 9 kg weight class, document the engineering behind it, share the build on social media and compete in the arena. The winning team receives a ₹50,000 cash prize.

Is ForgeRival a robowar competition?

Yes. ForgeRival’s arena matches are robot combat, widely called robowar or robo war in India, and they make up 80% of each team’s score. Unlike a fights-only robowar, ForgeRival also scores each team’s engineering portfolio (10%) and social media awareness (10%), so the thinking behind the robot counts too.

Who founded ForgeRival?

ForgeRival was founded by Lakshay Bhati and Aadit Arora. It is operated under Liftor Software and Technology Pvt Ltd, and the company’s registration details will be published on the organiser page at forgerival.com before paid team registration opens.

Format, scoring and robots

How is a ForgeRival team scored?

ForgeRival scores every team in three parts: robot combat in the arena counts for 80%, the engineering portfolio for 10% and social media awareness for 10%. Detailed judging criteria, match formats and submission guidance will be published in the competition regulations before team registration opens.

Is it only about winning fights?

No. Robot combat is 80% of a ForgeRival team’s score, but the engineering portfolio and social media awareness count for 10% each. Teams are rewarded for explaining the design decisions and testing behind their robot and for sharing their build with an audience, not only for results in the arena.

What weight class do ForgeRival robots compete in?

ForgeRival robots compete in a 9 kg weight class. Teams design and build their own machines, and no robot kit is supplied. The full technical regulations, covering robot specifications, permitted weapons and systems, safety requirements and inspection, are being finalised and will be published before team registration opens.

Do you supply a robot kit?

No. ForgeRival does not supply a robot kit in the current plan. Every team designs and builds its own 9 kg combat robot, and the team’s engineering portfolio records how the machine was developed. The technical regulations will set out the specifications and safety requirements every robot must meet.

What is the winner’s prize?

The winning ForgeRival team receives a ₹50,000 cash prize. The full prize terms, including how the overall winner is decided across the combat, portfolio and social media scores, will be published with the competition regulations before team registration opens.
