A finished robot does not show every failed part, revised drawing or late design change. ForgeRival gives that work a place alongside the competition itself. We want teams to take pride in what they make and be able to explain how they made it.

Designed by your team. Developed through testing. Explained through evidence.

Give the build
a place to be seen.

Develop the idea

Choose what you want to build and explore how it could work. Compare approaches before committing to a design.

Build and improve

Turn the design into a machine. Test it, identify weaknesses and record the changes you make.

Document the work

Keep a clear record of the development: sketches, models, design decisions, iterations and test findings. These are examples of useful evidence, not a final submission checklist.

Share and compete

Share your team’s story, submit your portfolio and put your machine to the test.

This describes the intended experience, not a confirmed event timetable or running order.

Show the thinking
inside the machine.

Why this layout? Why that material? What changed after the first test?

Your engineering portfolio tells the story that the finished robot cannot tell on its own. It connects the machine to the choices, experiments and revisions that shaped it.

Your portfolio contributes 10% of your overall score. The format and submission guidance will be published before submissions are requested.

Built by teams.

ForgeRival is for people who want to turn an engineering idea into something that works. Design, fabrication, electronics, programming, documentation and presentation can all contribute to the team’s work.

Bring a team of 2–5 members. Entry is ₹2,000 per member, including the team leader.

FAQ

ForgeRival is an India-based team robowar (robot-combat) and engineering competition. Teams of 2–5 design and build their own combat robot for a 9 kg weight class, document the engineering behind it, share the build on social media and compete in the arena. The winning team receives a ₹50,000 cash prize.

Yes. ForgeRival’s arena matches are robot combat, widely called robowar or robo war in India, and they make up 80% of each team’s score. Unlike a fights-only robowar, ForgeRival also scores each team’s engineering portfolio (10%) and social media awareness (10%), so the thinking behind the robot counts too.

ForgeRival scores every team in three parts: robot combat in the arena counts for 80%, the engineering portfolio for 10% and social media awareness for 10%. Detailed judging criteria, match formats and submission guidance will be published in the competition regulations before team registration opens.

ForgeRival robots compete in a 9 kg weight class. Teams design and build their own machines, and no robot kit is supplied. The full technical regulations, covering robot specifications, permitted weapons and systems, safety requirements and inspection, are being finalised and will be published before team registration opens.

The winning ForgeRival team receives a ₹50,000 cash prize. The full prize terms, including how the overall winner is decided across the combat, portfolio and social media scores, will be published with the competition regulations before team registration opens.

Entry to ForgeRival costs ₹2,000 per team member, including the team leader. A team of 2 pays ₹4,000, a team of 3 pays ₹6,000, a team of 4 pays ₹8,000 and a team of 5 pays ₹10,000. Payments are not open yet; join the waitlist to hear when registration opens.
