# ForgeRival — Risk & safety acknowledgement

Draft for team entry · not yet in effect

Version: 2026-10-03-5
Prepared: 3 October 2026

Understand robot-combat hazards and the separate approvals needed to compete.

## The activity and its risks

Robot combat can involve high-energy rotating or moving mechanisms, damaged machines, sharp or hot debris, accidental projectiles, electrical faults, battery fire, burns, stored energy, noise, repairs and recovery. Serious injury, permanent harm, death and damage to robots or other property are possible. Risks extend to preparation, transport, charging and handling. Reading or signing this document does not make the activity safe.

## Participant responsibilities

Operate only when authorised and only within approved areas. Follow inspection, isolation, lockout, battery, charging, transport, protective-equipment and recovery procedures in the released rules. Do not energise an active mechanism in an uncontrolled area. Report defects, near misses and injuries promptly; stop if instructed or if conditions appear unsafe. Only designated personnel should recover damaged robots or enter controlled areas. Teams remain responsible for truthful specifications and authorised configurations.

## Organiser responsibilities and approvals

The organiser must obtain suitable competent assessment, containment and test-facility approval, venue permissions, emergency plans and activity-specific insurance advice before operation. These arrangements are not confirmed in this preview. Neither an inspection sticker, course completion, specimen test nor a signed acknowledgement certifies a robot or the whole arena as safe. No claim of confirmed insurance or medical cover is made.

## Technical rules and containment testing

The technical regulations, including the robot weight limit, are still being finalised and will be published before entries open. The current draft excludes acrylic/PMMA as the primary spinning-combat impact barrier and requires assessed containment and separately protected testing. Remaining limits and facilities must be approved. Do not infer an approved test procedure from this page. Obtain the complete issued technical rules before building for the event.

## Individual acknowledgement and retained rights

Each actual participant must separately understand and acknowledge relevant risks before participation. A leader’s checkbox is not an individual waiver for the entire team. If minors are permitted, suitable guardian and supervision arrangements must be separately approved. Acknowledgement does not excuse negligent organisation, override duties imposed by law, authorise unsafe conduct or waive non-excludable remedies. The final activity-specific agreement must align with approved controls and insurance.
